Chocolate Sauce
Nana used to make this to pour over Blanc Mange, a tricky-to-do-right little white pudding made with cornstarch which tasted better than it sounds, thanks entirely to this easy, magic sauce.
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup cocoa
Mix in a heavy medium-size saucepan.
1 3/4 cup water
1/2 tsp. salt
Whisk into the mixture in the saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring.
1 tsp. vanilla
Add vanilla to mixture. Remove from heat and cool. Store covered in the fridge.
Keeps for a long time, at least a couple of weeks.
