Hershey’s Disappearing Cake
The best! This chocolate cake’s story began in the 70s when it was the favourite of all Noreen’s kids. It’s been my main cake for any occasion, ever since.
Set oven to 350°
Butter and flour two 9” round cake pans.
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
In large bowl, cream all together until fluffy.
2 eggs
Blend in eggs.
3/4 cup cocoa
1 3/4 cups sifted all purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
Blend above 5 ingredients in a different bowl.
1 3/4 cups milk
To the fluffy first part, mix in about 1/3 of the milk and then 1/3 of the above dry ingredients, alternating like that until it’s all in and well blended. Pour into pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes, then remove from pans.
