Meatballs
Mom used to serve these for parties. I've been looking for a good recipe for meatballs and am glad to come across this. They were excellent. Dad and Al really liked them, I remember.
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 cup grated soft bread crumbs (very fine)
1/4 cup milk
1 tbsp. green onions
1 tsp. salt
Mix together and shape into small balls, about 60, about 1 tsp. each.
2 tbsp. margarine
Melt in heavy pan. Brown balls on all sides.
Pour off fat.
1/2 cup sherry
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup oregano
Mix and pour over balls.
Cover and simmer gently about 20 minutes, shaking pan gently from time to time until cooked.
Serve in chafing dish over candle warmer and put out toothpicks for spearing.
