Easy Yummy Pizza
A recipe from the 70s, and there’s no yeast to fiddle around with, so you don’t have to buy any (and throw it out when it expires). No yeast means it’s not exactly like you’d get at a pizzeria, but it’s so good why worry? – That’s the yeast of your problems!
Set oven to 400°
Crust
3 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup parmesan
4 tsp. baking powder
8 tbsp. butter
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups milk
little bit of parmesan
little bit of olive oil
Combine flour, salt, parmesan and baking powder. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. Gradually add milk, stirring until it forms a ball. Knead lightly until smooth. Spread with oiled fingers on large cookie sheet. Crimp the edges. Brush dough with a little olive oil and dust with a little parmesan.
Bake without toppings for 10 minutes or until crust is light golden brown.
Sauce
1/2 (6 oz.) can Hunt’s Italian Tomato Sauce
1 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. basil
Mix all together and spread evenly over crust when it comes out of oven
Toppings
2 sticks Schneider’s pepperoni, thinly sliced
1 cup sliced mushrooms
chopped onion, pre-cooked in microwave (optional)
bacon, pre-cooked in microwave (optional)
2 cups shredded mozzarella (use lots)
Top with these or other favourite toppings, adding cheeses last.
Return pizza to oven and bake another 10 to 15 minutes or until cheeses are melted and crust is golden.
