Ginger Snaps
Even better when Mom served them with homemade applesauce. Nice at Christmas, too.
Set oven to 375°
Butter cookie sheet.
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
Cream together in large bowl.
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg, beaten
Stir in, then beat well.
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
Add to bowl and stir in. Roll into small balls and dip in white sugar. Bake 8 minutes and check, could take 12 minutes, but don’t overcook. Makes about 4 dozen.
