Fudge Clusters
Who remembers Nana making these in the old cottage? Sometimes chewy, other times fudgey, we kids found them irresistible as they sat cooling on their waxed paper. So good and now even better since we know oatmeal is supposed to have so many healthy benefits.
2 cups white sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup milk
Place in large saucepan, and bring to a boil. Remove from heat.
3 cups oatmeal
5 tbsp. cocoa, more or less
1 tsp. vanilla
Stir into above mixture. Drop on cookie trays covered in waxed paper, and refrigerate.
